About Whitby Well Being

We improve wellbeing and mental health by getting people back into nature — properly, simply, and without fuss.

Whitby Wellbeing exists to reconnect people with the environment, with others, and with themselves. Our work is grounded in the elements: water, fire, air, and earth. Hot sauna. Cold sea or river. Fresh air. Solid ground under your feet. Nothing added that doesn’t need to be there.

We run wellbeing experiences in the places we love most — along the Yorkshire coast, in the hills, woods, rivers, and moorland of North Yorkshire. These landscapes aren’t a backdrop; they’re part of the experience. Weather, tide, light, and season all shape what happens.

Our sessions are practical, human, and real. Sauna, cold water, breathwork, movement, stillness, conversation, silence. Some people come to slow down. Some come to feel alive again. Some just need a place to breathe.

Whitby Wellbeing was founded by Daniel O'Connor.

Daniel set up Whitby Wellbeing after experiencing first-hand how practices like sauna, cold water immersion, breathwork, and meditation can shift mental health, resilience, and perspective — not as a quick fix, but as steady, grounding tools for life.

“These practices helped me through periods of stress, burnout, and big life change. They gave me clarity, steadiness, and a way back into my body and the natural world. Whitby Wellbeing is about sharing that — in a way that’s accessible, down-to-earth, and welcoming.”

Our events are for everyone. You don’t need to be ‘into wellbeing’. You just need to be curious.

If cost is a barrier, please contact us in confidence. We never want money to be the reason someone can’t access space, warmth, or support.

Whitby Wellbeing is about simple things done well — fire, water, land, and people — and the quiet but powerful changes that happen when they come together.
